Counselor’s Corner

A school counselor’s purpose is to focus on students’ academic, career, and social/emotional development. School counselors aim to help students achieve success in school and be prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.

A Message from Ms. Najera

My name is Katrina Najera. I am thrilled to be your school counselor at West Oso Elementary. As the West Oso Elementary school counselor, I work with all students’ academic, personal, and/or social needs. I also collaborate and consult with staff and parents regarding how to best meet the needs of students. I am also available to all students at West Oso Elementary for group and individual counseling services. The most common issues we address in individual and group counseling are friendships, getting along, and expressing emotions appropriately.

As your WOE counselor, I conduct classroom guidance lessons that encourage and teach children the many skills they need for personal development, career exploration, and educational development. Topics for classroom lessons include the following:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Goal setting
  • Friendships
  • Bullying

Please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Your counselor,

Ms. Najera
